Q: So Abby, your back but this time are you back for good?
A: Well the thing is, I feel that I just needed a break from my music, as soon as I came out of uni I was straight into that recording studio and I was so keen to start up my music career that I forgot about my real life but this time since having that break I feel refreshed and raring to get back on top of the music again. I understand that people were slightly disappointed I just left but now I’m back and don’t give a f**k what people think Ha-ha

Q: Would you say that you have become more serious since coming back?
A: I think in some ways I have like when it actually comes to making the music, I can go off task and tend to mess around as I don’t like to be too serious as I want to enjoy making my music. I think it was because I was younger and now after having this break has made me more mature. I suppose at the end of the day it’s my career and my mistake if I mess things up.
Q: There has been a lot of confusion and debates between why you chose the name of your new album to be called ‘Power on me’ and songs that relate with more ‘electro’ side of music, if so can you tell us why you’ve chosen to do this?
A: I find it really difficult to think of what to call my songs as I don’t like using names to do with my feelings. I prefer them to be very different and mesh words together so it’s almost like I’m creating my own new words sometimes I make myself laugh with the things I can think of!

Q: Is it correct when I say that you apparently recorded some of your album tracks in your apartment down in London?
A: Yes I did, in my early mornings whilst drinking my 5 cups of coffee I’d always sing to myself wondering what i could have next line by line and ended up producing two of the songs that are on my album now. Once I’d finished writing them I just wanted them recorded straight away so it was done and out the way.
Q: Do you reckon after this album is released you will start to make another or wait?
A: Well I think I’m going to wait and see how well this one does first before I make any decisions, If I get a really good response whilst on tour I’m sure I’ll be inspired by things around me to write more songs, but yeah I’d love to keep going just waiting for a response now!
Q: You can play the piano? In any of your songs do you record not only your voice but piano playing as well?
A: No, When I was younger I was inspired by my dad to play the piano as I used to listen to him and I thought he was amazing which made me want to learn how to play and ever since then when I see my dad we play together and I want to try and keep that something personal that me and my dad do and not include in my career.
Q: How does it feel knowing that you have popular DJ’s such as Zane Lowe and Annie Mac backing you and your new album release?
A: It feels amazing, I can’t believe it still. I didn’t think that they would’ve even heard of me turns out I was fully wrong. But yeah it’s a good feeling that I have support from people who can get me more noticed by playing my songs.
Q: Rumors get around that you and Lana Del Rey are ‘BMA’s?
A: Wow!! people calling her Lana Del Rey confuses me sometimes Ha-ha her real name is Lizzie but yeah she is so much fun to be around and when I first met her I was surprised at how she was, as some of her songs come across to me as quite serious and emotional however in real life she is such a good laugh, I wouldn’t go to the extent of best friends but she is definitely a good friend to me!

Q: Do you think Lana Del Rey has had an influence on your new album as some songs are said to be quite similar to hers?
A: Yeah I love to think that our music is similar as I adore her music!! Well I try to make my music unique and make it important to myself but yeah I’ll admit she did have quite an impact especially on my album there is a song called ‘Fuse friends’ which has a very similar tune as ‘Born to die’.

Q: Little rumor going around that you are going on tour after summer, is this true?
A: Yeah possibly, it’s not all gone through yet but I plan to, I want to head all around the country and Ireland. My tour list should be up on my website before the end of the month if it all goes through so any information will all be on there to find. However I would also like to do a couple of my songs at one of the major music festivals during the summer as it might get me some extra fans! Ha-ha
Well thank you Abby for coming in and telling us a little bit of background about your return and new album. We wish you all the best here at ‘Pulp’ for the future and hope your album goes well!
